Brooklyn and Back.

It's feels like ages since updating here on DM, but I'm back to a routine after last week's spontaneous and quick trip to New York City. The reason? I will now be interning for STATE, an amazing clothing label that is the perfect combination of everything I love. Although I'll be moving there this summer to start my full-time responsibilities, I will be starting to work on projects this spring as awesome things are happening, and why wait?

So last week I survived an eight hour bus ride and spent three days immersing myself in everything STATE. Technically, I will be acting as a press and communications intern, but while visiting and I got to do so much more than I ever expected. From working on the website and blog to picking up cat food and bagels and even helping with the selection of fabrics for the next collection, I tried my hand at a little of everything. Adrienne is the most amazing boss any intern could hope for and it seriously feels like we've known each other forever already.

While visiting I got to watch her indigo dye some of the perfectly cheeky britches in her shop. Seeing her put the time and attention to detail into every item was the moment that I realized how grateful I am to have this opportunity. The products are beautiful and well-made, but even more than that they are going to change the world of fashion. It was really inspiring to work with someone who cares so deeply about creating quality products and building a label that can be trusted.

Being immersed for three days in that beautiful studio and working with the label made it super hard to get back on that bus home. I'm excited for the semester, which starts today, but to be honest it's what's waiting on the other side that has me downright giddy.

Of course, the trip to the city was fun in itself. I rode my first packed subway. I kept thinking to myself Seriously, no one else can fit on this train! And every stop more and more people would squeeze in. Through Jocelyn, I stayed with some really awesome girls and their super-cute pups. When I wasn't at the studio I explored Brooklyn a little more, and drank great coffee (Bluebottle!) and picked up some treats for Gary...

Some new products went up today on STATE's online shop, and I did my first blog post with more photos of the indigo dyeing afternoon. So excited to share everything here along the way!
